September was announced as national tourism month

The aim is to encourage locals and international travellers to explore South Africa and to highlight how the tourism sector can create jobs and reduce unemployment.
Beyond the focus on job creation
The government is eagerly poised to capitalise on the tourism industry, according to Tourism.go.za domestic tourism in 2018 contributed R26,4 Billion in revenue and the government believes that with vigorous campaigning and marketing this figure could be doubled.

The Government hopes to attract 21 million international travellers by 2030, to achieve this they are working closely with Home affairs on Visa facilitation.
